Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password

I agree about accepting OAuth! It seems it's hard to find PC email clients that use Microsoft OAuth, except Window's built-in apps, which I don't personally like, especially for those with multiple accounts or running a business.

I *think* the new Mailbird 3.0 is finally using it for personal accounts. (They've always used it if you have a paid business email address through Microsoft.)

I see a few responses as to potential mobile email clients that use OAuth, yet lots of chatter about business vs. personal, outook.com not allowing it, where allowed, not working (not all on this community; some in other online sources). Phew! Could they not help the end user and make this just a wee bit clearer. Egads!

I would hope MS would update this community that all is working (if it is). Yesterday, I was able to go about 14 hours without an authentication error, thinking "good, it's fixed" only to find out, oops, to premature.

I am using Mailbird 2.0 with a Hotmail account.

I saw another post upstream about Mailbird not supporting OAuth2 for personal accounts but there was an option to use an App Generated Password.

I finally got Mailbird working with my Hotmail account today by doing the following:

• Go to a browser and log onto your Microsoft account
• Follow these steps to turn on 2 factor authentication:
• From Microsoft page - Using App Password
• Also a simple video on how to do this - Using App Password Tutorial
• Generate the new App Password and copy it to the clipboard

Go to Mailbird:

• Remove old Hotmail account
• Add Hotmail account
• Keep default server settings which will be using the IMAP server (outlook.office365.com)
• Next step will ask for your Hotmail or Outlook password
• Paste the App Password generated in the earlier step

Mailbird should successfully connect and start syncing your Hotmail or Outlook personal account. This will take awhile as it has to sync up 5 days or more of missed emails.

Thunderbird supports OAuth2, as does K-9 Mail, which is basically the mobile version of Thunderbird.

i notice something odd isn't me or when you delete something its not showing it in delete items of as today in outlook/hotmail? i don't know glitch or what it just showing what been deleted since yesterday very odd never seen this before this is on computer btw
