Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password

I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

    Not surprising... Microsoft has a collab with Samsung to pre-install MS apps on Samsung phones or at least a variant of Samsung phones. Microsoft and Google are in head-on competition, so Microsoft takes every chance to stab Google. In Chrome browser, if if I switch Bing to search, it will only nag me once. However, if I switch to Google for search or web apps in Edge, it will constantly nag me and import my Google Chrome data without consent. Microsoft is the new evil in tech.

    I am very sure it's not the mail app or calendar app, it's the EAS protocol access stack.

    I do see the same on Samsung Email for Android. The notable piece is when you choose Exchange as the account type and then type your email address, the "password" field disappears and the modern auth process happens.

    I'd been looking into third-party email apps which support EAS, but they all seem to want to connect to your Android client using SMTP/IMAP and then (presumably) their own servers utilise EAS to connect to Microsoft.

    I noticed the required permissions when authorising this access (or not!) are different between Samsung Email and the other third-party email apps too.

    PS. Please keep us updated on your outstanding ticket with Google :)

    Google responded (among other setup hints for IMAP and POP):

    "However, there is no official information on when Gmail will support OAuth for Outlook.com EAS."

    But as I'm not sure if they understood correctly, I answered to that email and explained the same problem in other words ;-)
