Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password

Look I get it, what I'm saying is that if you want to vent your frustration and discuss about technologies is ok.

What I'm saying is that no amount o complaining or hitting on the MS people here will change the direction that MS has decided to take, they will not release a patch or an update for Outlook, this is not a bug its a "new feature" right?

It has to be a bug in some fashion because...
Even their newest available product has the issue.

I mean unless the intention is to do away with that product, but i cannot see that being intended?
I mean that would kind of shoot the MS Office thing right in the foot, Outlook and Excel are probably the two heaviest used products in that suite., so i have to think that something is not quite as planned?

On amusing side note, if you put in a product ticket, you may well be told that you can find information on this issue here, in this thread.
I mean, the response is not wrong, it just doesn't fix anything.

I know, its kind of an odd behaviour, but I think most complains comes from users on Outlook 2013, 2016 and other "not supported" clients. MS argument is "if it doesn't support OAuth it will not work". Also they just started rolling out this implementation so something somewhere maybe got broken, some user experience issues some don't who knows, this is the MS way, throwing things at the wall until it sticks lol.

I got super tired of having to enter my password, I bought the bullet and installed the "new Outlook" just for fun and I don't know what to say, I was surprised too, but I like it lol. It works for me personally, I eventually told myself that if I didn't like it I will have installed Supernova but I didn't.

I know that installing the new Outlook is not feasible or desiderable for everyone depending of the situation, in my case was a simple matter of adding a bunch of various personal email accounts.

More complex scenarios will require some investment for the cost of upgrading your email software, if a free solutions is not an options.

I don't think that MS just planned to set-up us with the purpose of pushing to upgrade our software, of course that will benefits financially but they also really want to catch-up with what other companies already did as security is concerned. Off course there will be some causalities along the road but its a sacrifice they are apparently willing to make :)

At the end of the day I think we we all benefits from having a more secure access to our emails, and I don't have to see that ******** password prompt ever, it gave me PTSD.

Technically 2013, 2016 and 2019 would not be untenable.

Drop a sync tool similar to what you would use for gsuite.
But I am not sure a 3rd party could write the plugin?

"Get a new office version" would not be such a big deal if

1. new version didn't have same issue as older ones
2. new version did not cost $600+
   They don't have upgrade versions anymore, so no discount there.
   Nor Ala Carte like they once had in the past.

The "New Outlook" unfortunately is just an update version of win10 Mail
Which unfortunately is kind of a web app.
There are many things it does not so.

It gets reads and sends email, it's fine for generic use.
Sadly it is just not capable of any work type use, if that entails anything beyond reading and writing emails.

It can't do automation, cannot do forms or app interactions.
Also seems incapable of things like encryption, cant accept certificates, can't connect o to database or datacenter.

Just generic email use, yea it is fine.

For what it's worth, i tried the O365 beta, but it seems it is in the same family as current
just a few builds ahead but same major version., so guessing office 2024 is a ways off yet.

In your haste to discredit others, you didn't read my posts. For several days now, I mentioned I tried to add my personal Hotmail account to my work laptops' Outlook, which is M365's latest desktop version from the stable channel. Both by description and the fact it's newer than Outlook 2021, you'd think it would work and it didn't... As for the MS people here, they were hyper-focused on IMAP only. Clearly, there is a disconnect. I can't tell if the new M365 Outlook is using EWS or Graph (but everything suggest Graph is still in development), it works fine for my work account but not for personal Hotmail in "Exchange" mode or "EWS" mode. I don't care if IMAP worked because I need calendar/contact sync, because IMAP is working for the current older client, so there would be no reason to upgrade.

I actually find it hard to digest that there are still folks left that do not care for contact or calendar sync. Perhaps they didn't know it was possible. Most people are clueless about authentication, email or calendar sync protocols. I run my personal life much like I do with work and I use calendar and contact list equally as I do with work. Most of data input are done on the desktop and I expect it auto-sync to the mobile clients in real-time.

I have been doing a lot of experiments in recent days. i can tell you the "New Outlook" is very very limited in its functionality. It will take a long time before they can replace the current desktop Outlook. I'd like to think folks that did spend the money on Outlook would have needs that a bit beyond very basic barebone experiences.

Pretty sure i know why that is but since you can't go visit ECP on a personal account it doesn't matter
not to mention would defeat their stated purpose if they let you do the same thing
