Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password

I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

    Just received authentication error. Outlook.com account exchange activesync 9Folders email client.

    @John N 999,

    Thanks for the update that OAuth is helping. I am getting direct feedback from some users with 9Folders and Apple Mail having issues and sharing that to the service team. These apps connect with EAS and the service team is aware of and continues to investigate.

    A quick update from my end - It's been working normally for about 3 hours now. Earlier in the day it's still behaving erratically, randomly prompting for password even when the status showed "connected to MS Exchange"

    (Outlook 2013, Windows 10 PC, 2FA + app password)

    Thunderbird, using OAuth2.0 has not thrown an error message as of late, so perhaps that piece of the fix is working, at least for me, and hopefully others. The email client 9Folders was still throwing authentication errors as of this afternoon.

    @thegreger,

    The only users that will see ads are those using the free version of New Outlook. If you have a paid Office Subscription you will not get ads.
