I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

See also here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/19dx64p/outlook_2013_windows_10_suddenly_not_accepting/Outlook gives me this: (startede yesterday)

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

Thanks in advance

Pierre

I can not necessarily speak to any different third-party email applications since I personally don't use them deeply or work on their product teams. However, I can speak to Outlook. You should be able to continue to use any Outlook client that has multiple folders and mail in all of them and be able to sync quickly.

For any other third party client, IMAP is the main protocol and the standard that many email services use to sync.

Thanks for the feedback and your first impressions. I am not sure if you are utilizing the favorite folders in the New Outlook just yet. But the way I have it setup is it is syncing all of my accounts, and I add the inbox of each folder to my favorites (right click on the folder you want to add and select add to favorite).

We have introduced drag and drop reordering of the favorite list. This is the way I order them and then just quickly go through them in order that I prefer.

I will indeed pass on the full-on account re-ording to that part of the team as well.

When connecting to Outlook.com it is always recommended that you let it autoconfigure and if you have to select anything you should be using Outlook.com and not Exchange. If you are using Outlook for iOS, there is no need to do any manual setup and it doesn't configure EAS under the covers it uses a different sync technology.

For the best and most simple setup majority of users should never have to do any kind of manual configuration to get their accounts in an email app. This includes Outlook, New Outlook, Outlook for iOS, Outlook for Android, as well as the defaults for apps like Thunderbird and Apple.

Nope no Edge bug, just personal mistake using my personal device instead of my work device. Just was trying to answer and engage as much as possible on the weekend here.
