See also here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/19dx64p/outlook_2013_windows_10_suddenly_not_accepting/Outlook gives me this: (startede yesterday)

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

Thanks in advance

Pierre

At one time Apple did default to using Basic Auth when connecting to Outlook.com/Hotmail.com, so if you had this account setup for a while it would continue to be setup that way. There isn't anything behind the scenes that they just change, it will require a user to remove and readd the account.

When you are within the Apple Mail app and Adding a New Account, you should select Outlook.com as the email provider. Then login with your username and password.

Thank you David for your support.

Apparently I had previously added my @outlook.pt account in the Apple Mail app through the Microsoft Exchange provider.

Now I’ve removed and readded my account using the Outlook.com email provider, and I don’t get any password prompts anymore.

    Thanks again 👍

This situation is simply untenable. And despite the comments from Gabriel and David, MS has done little to nothing to address and resolve the issue, or keep its users well informed. Even with OAuth in use, MS is still throwing constant sign-in errors. MS has not provided a working service for more than a month. Compensation is not being discussed. What are users expected to do but challenge the charges with their credit card providers and/or leave MS for another service provider?

Thanks again David for your support on this very painful situation (you are the only one from Microsoft giving us answers, even on weekend, so we really appreciate it).

Unfortunately in my case, I don't have the option to upgrade my desktop and mobile Outlook clients, so the fact that OAuth has been activated without any previous notice in our Hotmail or Outlook.com accounts, this makes that I don't have any solution to solve this issue as I cannot use the New Outlook nor some updated Android clients.

Is it really not possible to disable temporally this OAuth feature in our impacted Microsoft accounts so we can resync temporally our accounts and have some time to prepare for some workaround?

If the OAuth activation is definitive in our Hotmail or Outlook.com accounts, then I will for sure have to move all my data to my Gmail accounts that still work correctly in my desktop and mobile clients.
