I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

See also here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/19dx64p/outlook_2013_windows_10_suddenly_not_accepting/Outlook gives me this: (startede yesterday)

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

Thanks in advance

Pierre

The issue is still random and have different patterns for different people. I am in Asia and Android EAS is nearly not usable and worse than when I was in the US. I moved some of my data to my Google account and things are incredibly smooth, even over roaming data. This move will backfire for Microsoft in the long run. They are doing all this to capture more users but then you have long-term customers like me that are so put off by this, it actually drive us away.

After several days of getting mail only via my Aondroid app, I tried Outlook 2013 again. I entered the password at the annoying prompt - the joy of all that pent-up junk mail getting through again was a joy to behold.

I did a test email and that worked too. Such randomness for a such a giant (dis)organisation.

Another example outside of Apple's client would be TbSync addin for thunderbird. They recently updated to support Modern Auth/OAuth using Exchange Active Sync. This is just a screenshot that I took when I tried it. TbSync :: Add-ons for Thunderbird

    Hi David,

thanks a lot for your response and the clarification, really appreciated.

I hope this is really an indicator that eas supports oauth as I found several statements via Google that this could be a special agreement from microsoft with apple using this.

But if you are right I am happy.

Now to all the other community members out there: Is there any of you knowing a third party application using eas protocol with oauth? Or is there any app developer here knowing the basics of developing this?

Thanks again David for your response. 😃
