See also here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/19dx64p/outlook_2013_windows_10_suddenly_not_accepting/Outlook gives me this: (startede yesterday)

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

Thanks in advance

Pierre

Mailbird may have been mentioned in another post as well, and it seems that any client, Microsoft or to your point third party, may be affected. Not much else we can do... except maybe report it at down detector under Microsoft 365 > Outlook.

This is a problem with third party email clients as well. All imap settings are being rejected.

Issue it still ongoing. I had it almost go away but...

There was about half a day where, for all of my devices, it was not occurring nearly as much or at all but the issue was still there and got worse and more prevalent again.

Outlook does receive e-mails but still asked for passwords.

Indeed, that occurred on my devices in some tests as well. Navigating folders, the action of which AFAIK sends it's own authentication request, may behave differently that a manual send receive.

Me and the wife are having the same issue.

I use BlackBerry Hub on Android, started prompting at the start of the week. Managed to get it going using different server URLs for a short time, e.g. outlook.com, outlook.office365.com, hotmail.com, microsoft.com with varying degrees of success. Outlook.live.com seemed to work for a few hours then got the same error.

Wife just uses native iOS mail client and is also prompted for password.

I also experienced a period of time (yesterday?) where the issue seemed to have abated but it had not and returned as bad as before.

Utter shambles, considering moving away from Microsoft for mail. Wasn't keen on Google but at least I wasn't stuck without mail on my phone for a week.

Where misery loves company you may appreciate this. Recently "cut the cable" and committed several accounts to Outlook over Gmail. That being said, If this is just an untoward outage than I'm not so worried because those have been rare. I can still use email on the many affected devices, platforms, and configurations, (which is most of them) and The Outlook android app seems to experience no errors so that's the My last backup option, which I've not needed yet.
