I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

See also here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/19dx64p/outlook_2013_windows_10_suddenly_not_accepting/Outlook gives me this: (startede yesterday)

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

Thanks in advance

Pierre

Meanwhile, there are developers from a third-party email app for Android and IOS, that already discovered what is causing this mess from Microsoft:

Maybe in August Microsoft will take care of this issue...

It's sad... but same story here... started like 3-4 days ago...with outlook 2016, connecting to outlook.com E-mail account (former hotmail account).

    It's like a plague.

    Please fix this issue asap.

Password is correct, but server (outlook.com) is not accepting it.

Also, this issue affecting my icloud.com sync with outlook 2016.

We are in the process of doing the same for our business. Prioritizing more critical services and communications, we have moved away from Outlook.com/Hotmail.com/Live.ca/Live.com/etc. to a major competitor e-mail provider that has been reliable and consistent.

At some point, someone should look into the legal side of this, the Terms of Service/User Agreement/etc., with "class action" in mind.

Sent the feedback. I would hope to encourage others to do the same as this is getting ridiculous. Its been almost a week of only intermittently being able to check my email on Thunderbird and Android, unacceptable from Microsoft. In the meantime, I will certainly consider moving away from outlook.
