Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password

I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

Hi all,

The service team asked me to get the Outlook.com email address for those seeing the issue so they can check the backend to investigate what is causing the auth prompts. Thank you to those that responded. If they need more, I will post again 2/2/24.

Outlook 2021 Windows desktop, sign-in pop up still randomly appearing. Status: SOLVED?????

outlook 2019 with exchange desktop app for mac is still getting pop-ups once every few hours for my hotmail email accounts.
