Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password

I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

    Authentication error. POP3 using Gmail retriever (application password), IMAP (application password) and Active Sync account.

    Ok, I've only just found this thread, and without reading 27 pages of the thread, could someone kindly tell me if my issue is the same?

    Just before I went on an overseas trip (24th Jan) my @live.com.au address which was setup as exchange on the Gmail Android app stopped working. Since returning from the trip, the only way I can get it to work is to use the Outlook app, but my preference is to be setup on gmail as exchange. I already have 2FA and app password setup prior to this issue occurring. Is this issue actually resolved by MS or did they jump the gun?

    Just had another authentication error. Had to sign in 4 times, then it took. I'm just reporting. I know MS is working on this.
