See also here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/19dx64p/outlook_2013_windows_10_suddenly_not_accepting/Outlook gives me this: (startede yesterday)

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

Thanks in advance

Pierre

9Folders seems to have hijacked this thread. There are many of us who use a wide range of e-mail clients on a wide range of devices from phones to desktop computers that are experiencing this issue, and it is not helpful to the rest of us if a false sense of resolution has been made regarding this issue only because one developer decided to create a workaround for a known Microsoft issue that is not working with IMAP/SMTP industry standards.

We use Thunderbird, Outlook 2016, and the Samsung Email apps and am constantly, intermittently bombarded with errors pertaining to credentials. On PCs we resubmit the same username / app password credentials and it is eventually accepted and syncs a few folders until another intermittent error is experienced.

This is affecting all our Outlook accounts: *hotmail.com, *live.ca, *live.com .

This all started about 6 days ago after years with no issues, and is incredibly frustrating because it impacts our business and productivity.

    Thank you.

I understand, and as one of the people who have accidentally hijacked this thread I apologise. I am just one of the lucky ones who are using an app developed by people who are responsive and willing to provide a solution when Microsoft falls so far short of providing a solution to a problem of their own making. Using apps from other 'big' companies (like Mozilla and Samsung) isn't much fun when you can't do what you need to do. At the risk of annoying you further (that is certainly not my intention) I can thoroughly recommend 9Folders for their app suite. I've used it for years and although it has certainly had its moments from time to time, the developers do actually seem to care about the people using their product.

I really do hope that Microsoft pulls its finger out (or at least moves up a knuckle) and gets this resolved, or that other 3rd party app developers provide a workaround for you. Until that time, and irritating as I know it will be, if you need a solution *now* then you could do worse than to try the 9Folders suite, even if you just run it in parallel to your other apps for the duration of the 2 week trial period. All of this is just a workaround, not a solution, so I again apologise if you thought I was giving you false hope. Nevertheless, I believe that this will be a form of solution which could work for you, if you care to take the plunge.

(PS I am simply a happy and grateful user and nothing to do with 9Folders. I don't even code. I'm just an electrician!)

    Good luck!

    Angus

    Hi John,

In my case all I did was follow the instructions on the 9Folders link (shown previously) and did everything in the order they suggested: update the app (not uninstall and reinstall), remove the Hotmail account and then just add it in again. It was really quite painless, other than having to set up all my colours again for categories and the various calendars I have.

So far so good. It takes a while for all the calendar entries to synchronise, depending upon the date range of course, but everything else came in quite painlessly: contacts and emails are all there.

    Regards,

    Angus

Thanks. Toss up between waiting and doing all the setup tasks with a new account on Nine. Having this information helps. Thanks again.
