Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password

I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

    Yes, I have gotten this one also in addition to these others AFTER switching to OAuth2 using IMAP in Thunderbird...

    Totally agree. Why some work and others don't, all identical is a bit frustrating. BTW, my 9Folders changes this past Sunday (yes, finally go to it!) seems to be working for now. Will report back if not.

    Ticking doesn't seem to matter - the AI theory seems more plausible than anything. It's too random.
