I have this problem - Outlook 2016 doesn't accept password or app password - and i think it is a growing World wide Microsoft problem :-(

See also here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Outlook/comments/19dx64p/outlook_2013_windows_10_suddenly_not_accepting/Outlook gives me this: (startede yesterday)

I have 2 PC's with HOTMAIL accounts in Outlook 2016 ...

They both have this error.

I do get mails ... but I can´t send mails. Yesterday it did work for 1-2 hours ... but right now the error is there all the time :-(

Please help me.

Thanks in advance

Pierre

Can you please clarify this a bit more?

Both Outlook 2013 and 2016 have multiple manual setup account types, including "Outlook.com or Exchange ActiveSync compatible service". OAuth regkey are also added. Isn't this basically what you are asking for?

The recommendation is too broad and doesn't give enough details for this to be actionable besides dumping older and very functional Outlook desktop W32/64 app, for the "New Outlook" PWA that are very crippled in features.

Also for mobile devices, what are we supposed to do? Already using Outlook app for Android. It's not clear if the Android app itself runs an EAS service or if it relies on the EAS service of the OS, but it, too, is supposed to support OAuth already. I don't see a lot of actionable steps.

I am getting tired of this. I think I am going to have all my MicroSoft related Email accounts deleted or just stop using them and switch to another Email provider. Maybe if we all do this, they'll get upset because of the loss of AD revenue and fix the issue. I am starting to think this is all a scheme to get us to buy a 365 subscription. All other providers work fine with Office 2013 until MicroSoft decides to do something that breaks them. Let's all stop using Outlook/Exchange related Email accounts (Outlook, Hotmail, MSN, etc.).

    Same.

BTW I HAVE a 365 subscription, so this is obviously just a bug they've introduced at random and now can't fix.

I cannot believe this is still happening, have they even explained what caused it? I have 3 Outlook accounts & use Outlook 2013, sometimes the credentials pop up only comes up for 1, sometimes 2 but mostly all 3 & it is every time I open Outlook. Sometimes it takes 10 attempts to enter the password, other times it goes on much longer & there is no break between - as soon as I click save it pops up again.

What is most frustrating though is the response from Microsoft. I am using app passwords (& changed them when advised), I have the correct version of Outlook & I have it set to update automatically - all of this has been the case since this problem started yet nothing has improved.

Things were actually working for me for a few days this week, but that all stopped again on Wednesday. Connections have been broken since. Please Gabriel, some news would be much appreciated by the many paying MS customers here unable to use the software we pay MS to provide. Thanks!
