For some emails, yellow envelope started appearing in email icons in Outlook. What does it mean?

Starting this week, some emails (all of them are sent from internal domain) in Outlook shows yellow envelope icon. Opening and reading this email does not make this icon disappear. The only way to get rid of if it is to reply to the email, then the envelope is replaced with arrow.

Is this some new feature, bug or something is wrong iwth our Exchange server?

    It's not a new change. These icons have been a feature in Outlook for YEARS. Many years. But they are disabled by default. The March 2024 update forced it to be enabled for everyone. That's the issue, and it is a problem (unless you manually want to disable the icon for all of my users, and each of their mailboxes since every mailbox must be done separately).

    I don't see this as a problem item. It is a change in the cosmetics of the application. It does not stop any function or prevent any functionality. Looking at it this morning it appears to be on new incoming email from within the same environment/domain. For example, it will show when you email a coworker in the same domain from within outlook. It does not show if you email them from a different 3rd party app like an MDM on a phone. It also does not show when the email generated from outside the environment/domain.

    It's an end user training item and not a system issue.

    I have the same problem. But it seems like there are also emails without an attachment that are marked with this yellow envelop.

    i think in the view you can remove the icon field in view setting colum
