Selecting text no longer working properly in Outlook Web App on MacOS

I use the Outlook web app on MacOS, and selecting text word by word no longer works (shift + option + arrow on a Mac keyboard). This stopped working sometime this weekend. I tried multiple browsers (Chrome, Edge, Safari) and multiple Macs (Two different MBAs and one MB Mini). I tried it on a PC and it works fine. It seems that something broken on the web app for Mac users over the weekend.

This is a critical shortcut for things like copying and pasting or deleting. Anyone having the same problem and has an idea of what to do about it?

    I am using the latest MacOS and Outlook for Mac, and all of a sudden I cannot select text in an email I'm writing. Trackpad doesn't work, neither does my trackball (mouse). Clicking and selecting text simply doesn't work anymore. I can double-click to select a word, and I think the keyboard shortcuts work (I don't use them), but PLEASE FIX THIS SO US MAC USERS HAVE THIS SIMPLE CRITICAL FUNCTIONALITY.

    JULY 16, 2024: ALSO... THE "CONTACT SUPPORT" OPTION "FAILED TO LOAD CHAT WEBPAGE." SO NO WAY TO CONTACT SUPPORT VIA THE APP ANYMORE. HELP!

    Oh wow, it does seem to be working! All the shortcuts seem to be working indeed (enabled Gmail shortcuts again after a few days of disabling all). Will test some more, but thanks a lot for the update!

    As of yesterday June 12, I have total resolution on this issue. I can use keystroke shortcuts like cmd+arrow, cmd+shift+arrow, option+shift+arrow, and cmd+i in any sequence, without losing focus in the editor (I'm using Chrome).

    I am praying that nothing changes now!

    Oh my goodness, they do actually seem to have fixed it!!! At least in Arc and Edge, it's working. Well spotted Ian.

    NB If it's not working for you, make sure you do a full page refresh (might even be worth emptying cache) to pick up the new code…

    Update: All the misbehavior is still around. Perhaps reduced by a small % coz of my switch to outlook's keyboard shortcuts.

    Holy ****! I think it's working now. I mean, everything, including Command, Option, Undo, etc.

    • Open outlook.office.com on Safari
    • Select Settings (wrench) > General > Accessibility >
    • Under Keyboard Shortcuts where you see "outlook.com"
    • Change it to "gmail.com"
    • Hit Save
    • Go back and Under Keyboard Shortcuts select "outlook.com"
    • Hit Save again.

    It worked. I think it solved our problem!!!! Well, for now.
