I'm a windows 11 user. Few days ago, I saw another outlook app which shows in the start as Outlook(new). I uninstalled it because I have the outlook in my office package, but few days later, it was again installed. I scanned that folder but there is no malware detected. What is this? And why is it installing again after I uninstall it? Is it a malware? Or a legitimate software? Pls advise ASAP.

Hi Mark,

Thank you for posting on the forum today. I’m Bambi, a user like you and I’ll be happy to assist you.

I believe you are referring to the new Outlook. Please see link for reference https://support.microsoft.com/office/656bb8d9-5a60-49b2-a98b-ba7822bc7627

This is set to replace the mail app, it may explain why it downloads itself. You could try using it and see if you like it first before you decide against using it.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

Best Regards, Bambi

As of right now, the "New Outlook" is a dumpster fire and i do not want it on my machine. I do not want you to automatically install it on my machine. I do not want you to automatically switch me to it on my machine.

what i want is a registry key that will block it from ever installing again on my machine.

I totally agree with you, Sean. I rebooted my home laptop today and all of a sudden, I can no longer open Outlook from my task bar. So, I found that my PC auto-installed (without my permission) a new version that shows up as "Outlook New" in my list of apps. So, I opened it and started to use it. It is NOT the Outlook desktop program. It looks like some piece of **** webmail program. Where is all the functionality I had with Outlook and why was it taken away? I am still paying for Office 365 but now I'm getting some lesser, dumbed down, kindergarten tool???

    This is ****!

Outlook (new) is a legitimate app from Microsoft. Windows 10 and 11 pushes (new) apps whenever they want without asking us first. That's a known fact. You will have to do something to stop it from annoying you with unwanted apps.
