Why does Microsoft Outlook keep asking for Password

Why does Microsoft Outlook keeps constantly asking for Password. I even had to change my password thinking it would help. It didn't. Even after I enter password, still continues prompting me to enter password. Just does not go away. And it is also affecting my account with Spectrum Roadrunner to perform other functions that I was able to do without having to enter a password. This problem just recently started and Spectrum can't help since it's a Microsoft issue causing the problem. Tried to get help by calling Microsoft by using the recommended website since I'm unable to get a live person to talk to, but the website Microsoft is directing to go for HELP wants to charge a Fee plus a monthly fee. We purchased Microsoft. Didn't use to have this issue

Thank you for your reply. My problem of the message constantly reappearing to confirm my password has, thankfully, been resolved. I can't explain properly now as it's a few weeks ago.

"Open outlook and navigate to File > ", didn't you get the memo about the new outlook? I didn't have any problem with the previous version. The new outlook is the problem.

After months of issues and being an it engineer I tried reinstalls reg fixes safe mode all kinds of things.

The issue has gone in the last 2 weeks.

I think obviously there is a fix somewhere in an update.

I'm interested if people are experiencing same issue still ?

Very interested to know what's going on and others experience.

    Thanks

    Hi Johna,

I too have tried every fix I've been able to get my hands on, and nothing has fixed it so far. It has been caused by an update in the last year or so, I have Windows 11 Enterprise and Microsoft Office 2019 (connecting to on prem hosted Exchange - latest patch levels) - with all the non-optional updates installed. I have removed Office, re-installed, same issue. As a test I installed a new drive, did a fresh from scratch Windows 11 install, fresh profile, fresh Microsoft account on an alternate email address, fresh office, all updates - boom, same issue - 10 mins (roughly) and it asks for password.

I recently found a Windows 11 laptop that I hadn't used in over a year, I fired it up, and used Outlook all day without it asking me for a password. I then allowed it to install updates the next day - boom, same password issue as I was having with my desktop (Outlook works fine for 10 mins, then suddenly it asks for password - I have to enter the password between 1 and about 6 times in a row, and the issue goes away for another 10 mins). Recently I've just been closing Outlook and opening it again, it works for 10 mins which is good enough usually to read new emails and send some.

I have a Windows 10 machine running Office 2019 as well, this one has no issues at all.

If there was an alternative to Office which worked with Exchange I'd give it a go - I'm so frustrated with this issue.

I have yet to try Office 2021.

    Cheers

    Chris

Thanks, Chris, for forwarding your experience of the "password" issue.

I am glad to say that eventually it got removed, but I honestly cannot remember how, it's quite a long time ago.
