Why does Microsoft Outlook keep asking for Password

Why does Microsoft Outlook keeps constantly asking for Password. I even had to change my password thinking it would help. It didn't. Even after I enter password, still continues prompting me to enter password. Just does not go away. And it is also affecting my account with Spectrum Roadrunner to perform other functions that I was able to do without having to enter a password. This problem just recently started and Spectrum can't help since it's a Microsoft issue causing the problem. Tried to get help by calling Microsoft by using the recommended website since I'm unable to get a live person to talk to, but the website Microsoft is directing to go for HELP wants to charge a Fee plus a monthly fee. We purchased Microsoft. Didn't use to have this issue

I found that if I closed and re-opened 2-3 times it stopped asking, the, after installing the April updates, it is worse. never stops asking.

Next step is to see about moving to Thunderbird. I only use Outlook for contacts, email and calendar.

Yep. Did all of the suggested fixes too. Still does not work. For MS to say it is not on their end is BS.

Outlook is simply trying to connect to the server and is unable to find it because MS is no longer equating (in its DNS/routing translation, probably) to allow Outlook to connect to the server in question. Only Outlook 365 is listed (=allowed) for this. It would be easy to list all outlook versions in some file to allow the connection. However, simply stating that MS did not do this is BS. Someone physically replaced the file to establish the new 365 Outlook and did not look back at all the entries in the old file. Definitely a MS Systems Administration blunder. Not willing to fix/look into fixing it is simply to push all the users to use the Outlook 365 which connects perfectly to the mail server (leading customers by the short hairs). Protesting seems to do nothing.

    Frustrating...

Retired but not without some ideas...

Still the same issue new profile - windows updates applied office updates applied - re installed rebooted - deleted profile from registry - what an absolute pain the backside this error.

I DO BELIEVE THIS OUT OF OUR CONTROL -

Same issue on two devices works then doesn't work - no config changes then all of a sudden it springs to life MS must have done something at their end and the fact that they are pushing outlook web there would appear to be a move not to fix this issue.

How would you actually get a ticket logged for this - we have paid for the product its still in support so why is this still an issue

We are being forced of out look and the new version online lacks all the features -

My advice is not to fight it. It takes too much time and effort and isn't worth it. The first time it happened to me many years ago, it eventually resolved itself. This time, it lasted for a few weeks, but it has not popped up in at least ten days or so. So I think my problem has resolved itself again. I will do the same thing the next time it happens.

No one on here seems to have a foolproof solution. I’ve switched to Microsoft’s new Outlook which works, but is not as flexible as Office Outlook and, because it’s free, subjects you to advertisements.
