Why does Microsoft Outlook keep asking for Password

Why does Microsoft Outlook keeps constantly asking for Password. I even had to change my password thinking it would help. It didn't. Even after I enter password, still continues prompting me to enter password. Just does not go away. And it is also affecting my account with Spectrum Roadrunner to perform other functions that I was able to do without having to enter a password. This problem just recently started and Spectrum can't help since it's a Microsoft issue causing the problem. Tried to get help by calling Microsoft by using the recommended website since I'm unable to get a live person to talk to, but the website Microsoft is directing to go for HELP wants to charge a Fee plus a monthly fee. We purchased Microsoft. Didn't use to have this issue

I tried this but there are no cached credentials showing on my end having anything to do with "Office", "MicrosoftOffice...", etc. I am using WIN11 (x64) and Office 2019. I only have 5 cached credentials showing under Windows Credentials, yet none mention Office at all. Wished this would have worked but it won't for me.

This doesn't appear to make sense.. you are talking about using Outlook.com (which appears to be webmail). We are talking about using Outlook software (Outlook 2019 in my case) and being prompted to enter our passwords often and randomly within the Outlook software (part of MS Office). 2 different things.

I've suffered the same problems for months with Outlook 2013 and just today found this resolution - No more prompts for password.

    - Remove cached credentials

    1. Close all Microsoft Office Programs
    2. Navigate to Control Panel
    3. In the search bar, type in “Credential Manager” and select it
    4. Select Windows Credentials
    5. Under Generic Credentials select the down arrow next to any instance of MicrosoftOffice15_Data:orgid:*your email address* and remove it If you are using Office 365, it may say Office 365 instead of Office15.
    6. Open Outlook and input your new credentials when prompted. Make sure you check the box to remember your credentials.

    From not the community crew:

It might be the deprecation of basic authentication.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/modern-authentication-methods-now-needed-to-continue-syncing-outlook-email-in-non-microsoft-email-apps-c5d65390-9676-4763-b41f-d7986499a90d
Until September 16th, users signing into Outlook.com through Basic Authentication may experience recurring password prompts in Outlook and other third-party email applications. This is a known issue. After September 16th, users attempting to connect their Microsoft accounts through Basic Authentication will fail to do so.

    https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/clients-and-mobile-in-exchange-online/deprecation-of-basic-authentication-exchange-online
The deprecation of basic authentication also prevents the use of app passwords with apps that don't support two-step verification.

We removed the ability to use Basic authentication in Exchange Online for Exchange ActiveSync (EAS), POP, IMAP, Remote PowerShell, Exchange Web Services (EWS), Offline Address Book (OAB), Autodiscover, Outlook for Windows, and Outlook for Mac.

We also disabled SMTP AUTH in all tenants where it wasn't being used.

There is no plan for Outlook clients to support OAuth for POP and IMAP, but Outlook can connect use MAPI/HTTP (Windows clients) and EWS (Outlook for Mac).

Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010 cannot use Modern authentication, and will eventually be unable to connect. Outlook 2013 requires a setting to enable Modern authentication, but once you configure the setting, Outlook 2013 can use Modern authentication with no issues. As announced earlier here, Outlook 2013 requires a minimum update level to connect to Exchange Online. See: New minimum Outlook for Windows version requirements for Microsoft 365.
