How do I block all emails ending with @jean-patrique.co.uk. So annoying - keep receiving them every 10 minutes if not often. In 2 days - 300 emails. Did try to make a email rule, but doesnt help. Any ideas?

EDIT: 16/12/2023 - a bug with the blocked and safe senders and domains lists was preventing the procedure below from working between 12th and 16th December 2023. This has now been fixed.

There is an easier solution:

  1. Log into Outlook in either the web browser or the windows Outlook app;
  2. Click on the 'cog' symbol towards the top right;
  3. Click on "Email";
  4. Click on "Junk email";
  5. Under "Blocked senders and domains" click "+Add";
  6. Type "jean-patrique.co.uk";
  7. Press 'Enter';
  8. Click "Save" at the bottom of the list.

You can check it has saved the domain by starting to type it into the search bar on the right and it should appear even before you have typed it out in full.

This way it does not matter what combination of characters that the scumbag puts in front of the '@', the spam will get caught by this domain. Even better, unlike rules, which only apply to the inbox, this applies equally to junk email, which is where I presume this spam is going, and the result is to block it completely so you won't see it at all - not even in deleted or recoverable items. This is a positive change from previously, where I believe it just ensured that blocked senders and domains went into the junk folder.

This particular gambling-obsessed scumbag changes their domain every so often - they were ******@emails.fenwick.co.uk then ******@xixvodka.com then @monsoon.co.uk then @e.newscientist.com, so you will probably need to enter another domain if the deluge resumes under another guise.

Hope this helps,

Cheers,

TE

    Hi,

    After posting yesterday 2 more arrived from that address name with some variation. Since then there hasn't been another yet. This removes the 10 - 40 or so spam mails each day so far. I'll see how things go. It's a little too soon to say this has been resolved. I'll post back sometime next week with an update regarding this.

    Spammers if you ever read this. Just imagine being you! " when i grow up i want to be a parasite, selfish greedy nuisance to the rest of the world ".

    Well done spammers everybody loathes you! Of all the things you could have done and been to contribute to this world. but instead your short sighted greed is all you care about. What a sad pathetic bunch of people you are..

    THIS DOESN'T WORK !!! I am so sick of outlook unable to catch this obvious spam. You can add it to your blocked senders domain list and they still appear. Outlook is completely and utterly terrible. The rules never work and only work for inbox. How about this you just don't even allow them into junk at all. Its obvious spam " Casino team " bla bla bla. Still gets through. This email software is beyond enraging! After having this account for nearly 20 years I give up. GMAIL never has this problem . Is it dark patterns or intentional to force me to upgrade. I have no idea but i have had more than enough.

    Hi,

    I share your pain. I am wondering whether this morning's emails were a glitch where somehow the sender display name and sender address got merged and this meant that those emails didn't have a sender address with "jean-patrique.co.uk" in the message header, because instead it appeared in the display name and therefore the filter didn't capture those emails.

    I have previously noticed spam emails where they appear to get scrambled in some way and either the sender or subject does not appear the way the scammer usually sets them out and I wonder if that is what has happened here. The headers of spam emails are littered with expressions such as "fail" "none" "reject" "does not designate" "does not permit" and "discourages" all of which are tell tale signs of a spam email vs a genuine one. Of course, don't expect Outlook to filter out such obvious spam for us.

    So, same question to you - did you receive any other spam emails from this source after this morning?

    Cheers,

    TE

    check back again later ... it did stop for me for 24h but found this morning in my inbox again :( :( :(

    Hi,

    Yes that was very annoying. I received two this morning. However, I haven't received any others now for 12 hours. I checked back to last Thursday, where for example I received seven.

    Have you received any more since this morning?

    Cheers,

    TE
