Users are experiencing an issue where the New Teams window keeps appearing unexpectedly while they're working on Outlook or other applications. This problem started on March 19, 2024, in New Zealand.

Despite attempting various solutions like clearing Teams caches, uninstalling and reinstalling the application, disabling Teams on startup, and restarting the device, the problem persists. Reinstalling Teams temporarily resolves the issue, but it reoccurs shortly afterward.

Could suggest any futher troubleshooting?

We were able to find a very weird "solution" that worked for us. We noticed this behavior only occurred for our colleagues that were using the Microsoft Modern Wireless Headset and they had it connected using the USB receiver. Unplugging the USB receiver and pairing the headset through bluetooth has, at least temporarily, solved the issue. I'm not sure if this affects other makes/models of headsets as this is the only one we've had issues with so far.

This is also happening in our organization. It is seems to be tied to every dang Microsoft App. We have people opening Excel sheets and Teams appears, opening word docs and Teams appears. The only solution is to close Teams running and turn off any auto start-up and force it into a manual control mode where you only run it as needed for a meeting and shut it down afterwards (losing the chat ability you really want). And for MC to post something early saying inconclusive on their earlier work is disappointing. Another fine MS example of quality control.

    Hi All,

This is likely our case although it seems Microsoft skipped over where it opens on top of other applications while they are in use (easiest way to replicate is to open Word/Excel/Etc), I also had an app update yesterday and another earlier today - potentially the code change mentioned - neither of which have fixed.

I have also noticed the notification flash mentioned by John Steemson, update was as follows :

    Latest Message

Title: Users' Microsoft Teams desktop client will pop up when opening other applications

User impact: Users' Microsoft Teams desktop client will pop up when opening other applications.

Current status: Our investigation into the root cause of the issue has been inconclusive, though we're continuing to review recent service changes to isolate the source of the issue. Additionally, we've developed a code change that may provide immediate relief and prevent the Microsoft Teams desktop client from automatically popping up for users while opening over applications. We're working alongside your representatives to assist with validating the code change on a select number of users to ensure its efficiency before deploying it to the remaining impacted users.

Scope of impact: Your organization is impacted by this event, and users' Microsoft Teams desktop client will pop up when opening other applications.

    Thanks,

    Tony.

We have the same problem in Oklahoma.

It's seems random on who it affects.

Right now it's only Dell Lattitude 5401, 5411, and 5420 models with New Teams. Not sure that is completely relevant though.
