BlackBerry android devices or any Google device can't connect to outlook server

Dom, that's what I said to them but I also understand their frustration. Microsoft already acknowledged that it was their issue and their solution or workaround is not sufficient and now people jump on BlackBerry who didn't create the problem. Only Amazon allows you to enter original password or a device compatible with 2FA. BlackBerry is long gone, they are not in this business any longer and when they shut down, as a courtesy they left the android compatible apps up and running until it is time to shut them down because they don't even make Android phones anymore. Only Security systems for auto, airplanes, etc. I assume they keep the hub and other apps for corporations and android consoles for cars, others.

I agree that the issue was caused by Microsoft, however, other apps work without a problem. BB Hub+ is not a 'courtesy', product, I pay to use BB Hub+ with a monthly subscription, it is not a huge amount, but nevertheless I am paying for a product that at the moment, is no longer compatible with my email provider; whereas a free app like Samsung mail is working with any problems.

I have found a solution for Outlook email to work in Blackberry Hub for Android, and at the same time, for the Outlook Calendar and Outlook Contacts to sync with your phone's calendar and contact apps.

1. Remove Outlook email account from Blackberry app.
2. Install Outlook app and add your outlook.com email. Go into settings and enable calendar and contacts sync (imperative).
3. Go into your phone's calendar and contact apps, and set them to show content from your newely configured and synced Outlook account.
4. In Blackberry Hub, add your Outlook.com email. Go to Settings > Manage Accounts > + (top right) > Add email account. Enter your email and then click Manual Setup and IMAP. Fill this out using info at https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/office/pop-imap-and-smtp-settings-for-outlook-com-d088b986-291d-42b8-9564-9c414e2aa040 . For incoming server, you would enter IMAP server, and for outgoing, use SMTP server with "sign-in" enabled.

Please don't blame Microsoft or Blackberry for these issues. Each has their own problems. These things are complicated. Things brake. With these solutions, you will be able to continue using your Hub, calendar and contacts just the way your did before. No more authentication prompts.

After many attempts, I managed to get my Hotmail account working in BBHub on my Samsung S22. It occasionally pops up with the "****@hotmail.com needs a new password" error message, but I just ignore this and it goes away. I think emails are occasionally delayed, then several pop in at once. I didn't do anything special to get it working, just persevered with the published process.

The problem started BEFORE I set up 2FA for Hotmail (I set 2FA up in response to the initial problem as one of the suggested fixes. It didn't make a difference).

The odd thing is that it works sporadically as mentioned - usually these things either work, or don't. I can't think of anything that would explain this but I'm cynical regarding Microsoft here - they have absolutely no incentive to fix the problem since it only drives more people into using the Outlook app instead (I installed the Outlook app as a temporary measure while I was trying to get Hub working. Outlook on Android is, by comparison, awful).

Microsoft said that they are monitoring the servers and disabling authentication occasionally with the "old" auth method to hinder attackers. That's why you see your Outlook emails in Hub sometimes working, sometimes not.

A permanent solution would be for BB to switch to 2auth (or whatever the "new" auth method is called). There is no ETA. So in the meantime, setting your Outlook email in Hub via IMAP (as described in my previous post) is the only solution if you want to continue using BB Hub. 2FA won't do anything.
