'New Outlook' - how to save sent emails in a different folder instead of Sent folder

I have multiple subfolders for each of my projects. When I'm sending an email in my previous outlook, I was able to assign my email to a different subfolder than 'Sent Items' before I sent the email. I now don't see that as an option. How can I do this in the new Outlook?

    I've given up with the NEW version, I was finding it hanging too many times and still missing functionality.

    I was trying out the new outlook but rolling back as well.

    Pushing it to specific folders, is a simple way to organize work and communications.

    You can customize the ribbon to get this feature back. Here is what I do:

    1. Start a new e-mail
    2. Right click in the Ribbon, select "Customize the Ribbon"
    3. In the right-hand box, right click on "New Mail Message" and Select "Add New Group". Call it whatever you want, it doesn't matter
    4. In the middle under "Choose commands from", select "All Commands" from the pull down menu
    5. Scroll down to "Save Sent Item to" and left-click
    6. Left-click on the new group that you made earlier
    7. Click on "Add" in the center

    You should now have the button back.

    Thank you @Marc Howell2. However, this didn't work for me. I'm not sure how you are getting to the Customize window you have above. The new outlook doesn't have this menu (at least i couldn't find it). This looks like the "old" menu.

    When I select ... from the new ribbon (and note that it has to be in Simplified View to even see the ...), I get this:

    If I choose customize I see this:

    And now in addition to not being happy about Sent Items only being saved in the Sent Items folder, I'm SUPER unhappy about the limited customizations we can to on the toolbar. ARGH!!!!!!

    Tracy - Try going through the menu:

    • File, Options (bottom left), Customize Ribbon

    Your window looks a bit different than mine. Not sure what version I'm using or where to find that information. I'm able to switch between Simplified Ribbon and Classic Ribbon. Looks like that has gone away in the "New and Improved" version.
