Why can't I send email from Outlook (microsoft account) to a Yahoo or AT&T email account?

For years, I have been sending emails from Outlook on my desktop computer and mobile device with no problems. But the last few days, I am getting rejection messages saying my emails cannot make it through. Can I get help figuring out what is going on?

Here is the undeliverable error message I got when trying to send to an att.com email address (came from here: Mail Delivery Subsystem <******@xxxxx.prodigy.net>):

"The original message was received at Tue, 16 Jan 2024 12:28:35 -0800 from mail-mw2nam12on2049.outbound.protection.outlook.com [40.107.244.49] ----- The following addresses had permanent fatal errors ----- (reason: 554 [RL02] Message content not accepted for policy reasons; see https://postmaster.yahooinc.com/error-codes) ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to mx-sbc.mail.am0.yahoodns.net.: >>> DATA <<< 554 [RL02] Message content not accepted for policy reasons; see https://postmaster.yahooinc.com/error-codes 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable"

And here is the undeliverable error message I got multiple times when trying to send to a yahoo.com email address (came from: Microsoft Outlook <******@xxxxxxx.com>):

"Delivery has failed to these recipients or groups:

(******@yahoo.com)
Your message couldn't be delivered. Despite repeated attempts to contact the recipient's email system it didn't respond.

Contact the recipient by some other means (by phone, for example) and ask them to tell their email admin that it appears that their email system isn't accepting connection requests from your email system. Give them the error details shown below. It's likely that the recipient's email admin is the only one who can fix this problem.

Thank you for help.

    Hi there

I had the same issue and wasn't able to send emails to yahoo mail. My domain is from Go Daddy and I have contacted customer support and told them that I can't send emails to yahoo mail. They told me that my domain is using incorrect SPF record, which may prevent me from sending email and I need to update my SPF record to **************** in my DNS. Because my web site has been hosted in Hostgator I wasn't able to make the update in Go Daddy account and have contacted Hostgator support and told them that they need to update my SPF record to *************. They did the update and after 12 hours I was able to send emails to yahoo mail.

Hope this will be helpful to someone

I understand and agree. Because I do have an IT background for more than 20 years, it took me about 10 minutes to figure out what was going on and correct it. Yahoo support was useless but this thread was helpful. my domain name is carolinagardencompany.com. All of my DNS records were updated and "healthy" according to my dashboard. Thanks!

Solutions have been given many times in many Yahoo related discussion threads. I've been following more than 10 threads and lose track of what I have posted. You need some level of knowledge, understanding and patience. Many aren't techies and refuse to do anything except complain and get mad.

Not sure if I have asked you this, what is your domain name? I can at least find out which DNS records is missing or invalid.

Out of a handful of domain DNS providers, the longest I had to wait was about 15 minutes. Most were within 5. It's totally dependent on the provider's DNS. Glad you got it working.
