Hi,
I had 2 updates today from Microsoft for Microsoft Office. I am using Windows 11.
"Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2016 - en-us" and "Microsoft 365 - en-us".
Versions for both are 16.0.17029.20028
This updated my Outlook client as well - I know this because it changed to a new menu bar. I changed this back to the classic outlook menu bar.
After this, my Outlook client crashes whenever I try to send an email.
I cannot revert to the new menu bar in case this is causing the issue as there is no option to do this.
I am still receiving emails.

I have tried 'restarting' the Outlook client a few times with no success (I have Windows 11). I did this by typing "Outlook.exe/restart" in the command line. Please let me know if I need to try a restart some other way. Otherwise, when is the expected release date for the new build (i.e. 17029.20052.) that should fix this issue?

I suspect what has happened is that when 'new outlook' was foisted on users, it overwrote one or more system files used by 'old outlook'. 'old outlook' won't work with the new files, which is why it crashes when attempting to send an email.
Either we wait and hope Microsoft addresses this problem; or we do as you have, revert back to ‘old outlook’, and turn off automatic updates!
That is correct @Hettie. The bug happens on build 17029.20028. As a short term workaround you can revert to the prior working build 16924.20124 using the steps in this article, Outlook Desktop crashes sending an email from Outlook.com accounts - Microsoft Support.

I posted a Known Issue article to formally document the issue and share status, Outlook Desktop crashes sending an email from Outlook.com accounts - Microsoft Support. The bug will be fixed in the next build that goes out. I'll post back when I know for sure the new build is available.
