I use the new version of outlook. The drop down menu for attachments, suggests three files; none is the most recent file used/saved. I have to go into my word documents folders, find the file, and open it to attach it to an email. How can I get the drop down menu of suggested files to display my most recently worked on file?

I have this same issue, and I use OneDrive, however, because I have two OneDrive accounts on my computer, both a personal account and a work account due to being a remote worker, it only shows me files saved to my personal account rather than my work account, which is useless since I only use Outlook for work, but it won't show me my work files.

It used to work fine when it was recent files because then it didn't matter which one drive account was used, it just showed me the most recently saved or edited files. I am always editing files and emailing them to people for work, and this useless change has slowed down my workflow considerably.

Please change it back or at least give us the option to choose which One Drive account to suggest files from. Otherwise, you are penalizing people for using multiple One Drive accounts. This is terrible design.

Microsoft keeps dumbing things down and minimizing every interface possible ... which makes its products less usable and more frustrating. I really miss the "good Microsoft!"

Yes, it's not the point of this thread, but I've been getting extreme lag when using the new Outlook. Like I'll hit reply on an email and nothing will happen, then I'll hit it again and after almost 30 seconds it will register and 2 reply windows will open.

    Same issue here.

    Hello Joyce,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community. My name is Jerry and I'm happy to help.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this problem. I understand your issue and how important getting the drop down menu of suggested files to display your mostly recently worked on file is, allowing you to have easy access.

There a few thing's you can try to address this issue that i will note below, please let me know if you have any questions or need need any further assistance.

    1. Ensure File is Saved: Make sure that the file you want to attach has been saved in a location that Outlook can access. If the file is saved locally on your computer or in a network location, Outlook should be able to suggest it in the attachment dropdown menu.
    2. Use Recent Items: If the file you're looking for is a recent item, you can access it directly from the "Recent Items" list within Outlook. Click on the "Attach" button in the email composition window, then select "Recent Items" from the dropdown menu. This should display a list of files that you've recently accessed or opened.

3.Check Office Integration: Ensure that Outlook is properly integrated with your Office applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Sometimes, issues with integration can prevent Outlook from accurately suggesting recent files. You can check the integration settings in Outlook's options or settings menu.

    1. Restart Outlook: Sometimes, simply restarting Outlook can resolve minor issues with attachment suggestions. Close Outlook completely and then reopen it to see if the issue persists.

5.Check File Access Permissions: If the file you're trying to attach is located in a network folder or shared location, ensure that you have the necessary permissions to access it. Permission issues can prevent Outlook from suggesting the file in the attachment dropdown menu.

6.Update Office and Outlook: Ensure that you're using the latest version of Office and Outlook. Updates often include bug fixes and improvements that can address issues with attachment suggestions and integration.

7.Clear Recent Files: In some cases, clearing the list of recent files in your Office applications and then reopening them may help refresh the attachment suggestions in Outlook. You can typically find an option to clear recent files in the settings or options menu of each Office application.

Please don't hesitate to contact me if any of the following doesn't work.

    Regards,

    Jerry
