Good morning,

For some reason my hotmail account (************@hotmail.com) is locked out and I'm unable to log back in. I went through the recovery steps and still won't let me. Please assist. This is my account and I can't get in.

Please do not send me the link to recover as it doesn't work for me. My cell number is currently not active as I am out of the country (Canada) and I answered the questions correctly but it won't work. My password hasn't changed in years and I don't know why it still won't let me in.

Please assist.

    Hello,

Help me! I can't log into my private Hotmail.com account. I've tried everything – both resetting and calling you. All my personal stuff is on that email, as well as important emails. I find your support system extremely poor and insufficient. It can't be true that you can't help.

    Kind Regarts

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

I understand the importance of recovering your @hotmail.com login as soon as possible. Let's work on this together in finding the best option available for your situation.

To better understand the situation, I would like to ask some questions, such as:

    • What is the reason why your account is locked? is it due to unusual activity, multiple failed login attempt? please specify
    • When was the last time you logged in on this account?
    • From which country did you create the account?
    • Kindly send us a screenshot of the login error message

Before we proceed, I want to set proper expectation that NOBODY here in community forum have a direct access to your Microsoft account or any Microsoft account. All our information is saved on a cloud server and is being managed by an automated system. This is the exact reason why we need to fill-out the Account Recovery Form. The recovery request is dependent on the information that you will provide based on the information saved in the account.

Microsoft takes the security and privacy of our customers very seriously. We are committed to protecting your personal information, and the meticulous account recovery process is intended to protect you from any possible malicious activity.

You can generally access your email account from outside the country where you created the account. Microsoft keeps an eye out for unusual sign-in activity on your account to ensure its security. If you’re traveling to a new place or using a new device, Microsoft might ask you to confirm that it’s really you. In such cases, they may add a second layer of protection by sending you an email message and SMS alert. To ensure a smooth sign-in experience while traveling, it is required to keep our security information saved on the account such as Phone number/Email account.

I hate mentioning this but the best option I can provide is to fill out the Account Recovery Form and collect as much information as you can about any Microsoft services you may have used with this account. The more information you can include when filling out the form, the better the chance you’ll have of regaining access to your account.

Answer as many questions as you can as thoroughly as possible. If you’re not sure, guessing is ok — wrong answers don’t count against you. When you get to a question that lets you “add more," fill in as much information as you are able. Respectfully yours,
