How I can switch from working offline to working online in outlook?

The online/offline radio button does not work in my Outlook from Office 2021. All my email *.ost files are on my local drive. Surely there is a way to log into either the Live account or the web Outlook account & change to online from there. If there isn't, & I'm yet to fine it, then why not. It's a failure on Microsoft's part for not having some sort of alternate way of changing from online to offline & back.

My question is this. Can I uninstall/reinstall Office 2021 & re-create my email accounts, a mixture of Outlook & Gmail accounts, & not lose any emails? More importantly, will this fix the offline issue?

I had this problem with being stuck in Offline mode. I followed the instructions above and they did not work - no amount of clicking on the Offline button in send/receive would change my email to Online.

I went to File/Account Settings/Repair, clicked, and then received my mail.

The Work Offline button in Send/Receive is very problematic - it button is always a globe with a red x, even if you're actually working Online and you cannot click to get a drop down menu for the preferences.

Work off-line button has a red X and won't let me change to on-line. How do I fix?

Was the PST file stored in OneDrive? Try moving it out of the OneDrive folder and reconnecting it to outlook.
