    Tried this way several (10+) and still won't work to "Work Online." Other suggestions that may work. Tried everything several times.

    The red X is always present on the Work Offline button. Status is determined by highlighting.

    Online

    Offline

    Classic Outlook will not be decommissioned until at least 2029, 6 years from now.
