How to alter future meetings without changing the past events in a series of repeated meetings?

Example:

  1. I have a meeting set up to repeat every Monday at 9 AM from 1st January 2023.
  2. Assume today is the 1st of November, and I want to move all the recurring meetings to Tuesday.
  3. Outlook allows me to change the current event or all the events in the series.
  4. Single-event change is OK.
  5. But if I have to change all future events, I have to select "Edit" >> "All events in the Series."
  6. This option not only changes future but all the past events as well.

How can I ensure that only future events are updated (to Tuesday 9 AM) and I still have the entries of all past events in the calendar (as Monday 9 AM).

Update: I'd like you to know that this is now fixed.

If you open a recurring event and then click the edit button at the bottom left corner of the event window, it allows you to edit "This and all following events" ****

    That is awesome advice. I usually use the app on my work computer. But we also have a web version that I never really utilize. I was so frustrated that I always have to change the past events of the series if I want to change something moving forward. Even cancelling the whole series took everything out of my calendar. But now I was able to edit the series in the web version and it offers the selection "This and all future events." My previous meetings are still in my calendar. Perfect. Thanks!

    Dear Jagdeep,

    thanks for posting this question as well as a possible solution. Unfortunately, when I open one occurence of a meeting series I don't see the "Edit" button at the buttom left corner of the event. What version of Outlook were / are you using in the screenshot?

    But I have another solution what is from my understanding the more generally working approach. Instead of using the fat client of Outlook, simply access via Outlook Web Access (you can find the direkt url under ribbon "File" right at your "Account Settings". In the web view simply navigate to the desired meeting occurence in your calendar and you'll find exactly those three options from your screenshot.

    Hope, that solution helps even more people.

    This solved my mystery! I can do it easily on the online browser version, but not on Desktop version or mobile apps. That is an easy enough work-around for the moment, but would love to see this functionality on the desktop version in the future.

    Same here!! Web version enabled edit to 'This and following events', my app version does not allow this feature. Everyone, please try web version which kept old event unchanged and make changes to future occurrences only!! This saves a lot effort!!
