Can we move the toolbar back to bottom of left-side pane?

So, my outlook at work updated and now the toolbar for mail, calendar, groups, etc is on the left-hand side, rather than icons at the bottom of the navigation pane.

Is there a way to choose to have it back at the bottom as the left-hand side looks awful?

Hi Bee Frasier,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft community, I’m happy to assist you on this inquiry.

As per your description your Navigation bar was relocated after an outlook update and you're trying to relocate it to the bottom . Please correct me if I'm wrong.

To my understanding you're not using the new Outlook , I have done some research on your inquiry and concluded that Navigation bar location can be adjusted to the bottom by applying the following steps:

  1. Open the Outlook desktop app.
  2. Click File, then Options.
  3. In the window that opens, select Advanced.
  4. Under the Outlook Panes section, uncheck the box that says "Show apps in Outlook."
  5. Restart Outlook and your navigation bar would be relocated at the bottom

    I'm on M365, and I have the opposite problem. I actually LIKED having it on the upper left side of the screen! But the "fixes" here to make it go to the bottom, do not appear to work in reverse.

    1. I don't seem to have the "Coming Soon" option in Safe Mode, or regular mode for that matter.
    2. "Show Apps in Outlook" option is not there either.
    3. This is a Work computer, and the admins are very restrictive on what we can and cannot do, so editing the Registry is not a thing I have access to.

    Any other options I can use to 'revert' back to the new placement?

    I feel bad for the Devs. Make a change (That no one asked for) and everyone complains and want to go back to the old version. Then if/when they fix it... they get people who want to get the change back! The REAL issue, however is that as users, we need the CHOICE of where we want to put things. Not everything is "One-Size-Fits-All." Give us the OPTION to place things where we want them and feel most comfortable with them.

    [And DON'T assume that you know better than we do what we want/need! I'm STILL bitter of the advent of the RIBBON, because someone saw metrics showing that people weren't using their mice to access the Toolbar! There's a reason behind that... The Menubar/Toolbar WAS setup efficiently enough as it was, and we could access everything with keystrokes faster than a mouse-click! It was Great! I know we can still use keystrokes, but you changed them all from what they were before, and not all keystrokes work as intended now. Yeah.. still peeved about that change. Is there anyway I can get Office 2003 again?]
