Forced to use New Outlook wiped my entire calendar, can I get it back? Can the tray icon clock calendar be connected to New Outlook?

For years I used the tray icon clock to open a calendar. It looked like this (except Save & More Details were not greyed out).

Clicking a date I could fill out "Add an event or reminder", add a time and location.

Jan 10 2024 "New Outlook" auto imposed itself. It insisted I give it an email address or it wouldn't play ball. I gave it my MS-account email (that happen to be an gmail account). I imagined Outlook would copy all the old calendar items. It didn't. New Outlook was blank.

I was going to start using Outlook before it forced me. Not because I wanted to but because it seemed, after searching for years, that is the only possible way to make a calendar backup.

I believe I clicked Add calendar --> edit my calendar (New Outlook) trying to find a way to make my calendar entries appear when suddenly all my calendar entries where gone. They never appeared in New Outlook and were gone from the tray icon clock as well.

I can add new entries to New Outlook and I noticed they appear in my gmail account (calendar) as well.

I've more or less given up retrieving my old calendar entries. Thankfully I don't really need them. Searching this community for tips I looked in New Outlook "Deleted items". It's empty.

Now the tray icon clock calendar isn't only empty, the "Save" and "More details" are both greyed out. Is there a way to restore the convenience of the old functionality. Meaning I can add items via the tray icon clock again? I also have a vague hope if this is restored all my old entries will reappear.

    Why on earth would Microsoft release a new version of Outlook without ensuring all functionality is available to sync calendars from the old version to the new. No one should be put into the distressful situation that Microsoft has caused people. I spent hours yesterday to try and sort the mess caused with absolutely no success. The answer to this situation is that Microsoft do not release their new software without it be developed properly. The paying public should not be Microsoft guinea pigs because the so called experts cannot get the **** together. If Microsoft want to release new versions of any of their products test it before release. Do not do a half baked job. The Microsoft teams responsible for this **** should all be sacked and get people in who can actually do the job they were employed to do.

    Why has Microsoft deleted the calendar. I have a blank calendar now. Useless.

    Agreed! No advance warning of any kind to copy your calendar if you weren't constantly syncing EVERYTHING. Mandatory acceptance of the wipe-out; e.g., we don't care about you. So, all of these identical inquiries on "How do I get my CALENDAR entries back???"

    Hi IratherLINUX, the new Outlook app hasn't wiped out your calendar entries, it just hasn't synched them because the functionality needed to do this is not yet available. I spoke with the Microsoft Team via chat just now who advise me the new Outlook app was released 'Under Developed' which in Microsoft terms means it is not yet fully functional. At this stage, full support for IMAP (what google mail uses) has not been released because this aspect is still in development. Like you, I use a Gmail email address to access outlook.com and Windows mail presently which means my calendar entries do not appear in the new Outlook app either, they won't until enhancements for IMAP are deployed in the coming months. I did ask when deployment would occur but the consultant could not provide a data because this is not yet forthcoming from the developer.

    It is 3/23/24 12:30am.

    This concerns the app 'calendar' and 'the new outlook'.

    The new outlook just wiped my calendar. I can't get into the old calendar and the supposed 'new' calendar has none of my data. I had used it since I bought this computer and it had YEARS of farm and home vital data on it- cattle births and sales, family events, garden information, work notes...

    Literally it was my record of past events. I want my data back.
