My Outlook account is not allowing me to either send or receive emails. This is the case in both "new" Outlook and the far superior "Classic" Outlook. I've unsuccessfully tried over several hours and days to resolve the problem. I My BT Webmail seems unafected but the link there previously was to sync the applications is no longer working. This all seems to stem from the pressure exerted to switch over to the "New" Outlook option.

I think I've exhausted all the simple solutions, ie internet connections, size of attachments and reaching capacity.

Background to this: I had transferred my Office 365 account to my new Surface pro 11. New outlook version send/receive emails did not work correctly. There were no settings I could check the settings like the previous version. So I called Microsoft who first of all re-installed all of Office with the 'new'Outlook, but this still did not send emails. The eprson assured me this would fix the problem (for which they had no idea why it had failed). The second call to Microsoft (more knowledgeable person) still could not fix this and resulted in them uninstalling/reinstalling Office 365, but this time installing classic Outlook, setting up the IMAP and SMTP, and then Outlook worked perfectly. The M/S person agreed with me the new version was not as comprehensvie as the previous one, I think M/S have gone too far by stripping out lots of necassary parts and assuming this what people actually wanted. So much for giving us all the option to keep with the older version. I don't think M/S fully validated the install process before issuing it - ironic it didn't work on one of their own new laptops!

Outlook New is not yet a replacement for Outlook Classic and it will not be until at least 2029: Outlook Classic will remain fully supported until then and likely longer. There is no need to switch at this point. The current primary purpose for Outlook New is to replace the windows 10/11 Mail and Calendar app.

Hi Hal, thank you for your comment, I don't know how you aquired this information, or how factually correct it is. However, new outlook is what was included in the Office 365 software when I transferred my account to a new laptop. I did not see an option to switch or retain older Outlook. The account just substituted one version for the other and it did not work correctly. PLease feel free to show me what happened there?
