I am a premium subscriber. When attempting to add my gmail.com account to outlook.live.com I get an error 400 bad request "An error occurred when you tried to access your mailbox because a server with information about you and your mailbox couldn't be found."
The url it attempts to go to is: https://outlook.live.com/mail/1/?JitExp=1&state=2 and then after a few seconds of trying it goes to url: https://outlook.live.com/ and throws the error above.
I have tried clearing my cookies, browser history, incognito mode and restarting chrome browser but nothing seems to work.

Terrific reply - well thought out and researched, and very clearly written. Thanks much. Oh! And I agree 100% with your assessment, although try getting that response from Microsoft support!!
This is a nightmare problem. I have been working on it for several years. The steps I have had to take to receive my email on my paid 365 sub are laughable, unless you are me. The problem seems to be that all my email addresses are connected to a closed business account and to a former G-Suite account, I guess. It does not seem like rocket science to connect my accounts, MS has made me verify myself in myriad manners without exageration many thousands of times. I have received many thousands of emails and many thousands of notifications I have many many hundreds of attempts wasting many hundreds of hours trying to satisfactorily verify my identirty so I can use my computer browser and collect and keep my personal communications. I am not a business I am retired and disabled. I use the computer to work on a webpage I made to sell my wife's jewellery. People do have the right to engage in commerce and MS Inc does not have the legal jurisdiction to regulate it. I would suggest you connect my accounts. John M Wynne, ******@telus.net.
The part that really confuses me, is that you're able to have Gmail on the app with no problems, why is this basic feature missing on their own platform?
EDIT - In the vanilla mail app, there was a toggle to try the new outlook, this version allowed me to use my Google account.
This won't help anyone using the browser version, but it's a good workaround for Windows users
I had the same issue but trying to sync my outlook account into google calendar, I solved it following these 2 steps:
1/ In web-based outlook:
click on the little wheel top right corner(settings) /calendar/shared calendar/publish a calendar/ copy the ICS link
2/ go to web-based google calendar:
Other calendar/ click on the cross/ from URL/ paste the above copied ICS link
Hope that helps
