Spam filter in hotmail not working.

Everyday I am getting the same couple of pieces of spam email in my hotmail inbox, spam that usually goes to my spam/junk mail box. While most of the spam mail still goes to right box, these couple get through to my inbox. Several months ago all my spam went to my inbox for 4-5 days, maybe 3-350 spam mails a day in my inbox. At the time I noticed many others complaining of the same problem. Microsoft (or someone) was able to stop it last time. I hope someone can stop it this time before all my spam ends up in my inbox. I should add that I use an iPad, not a laptop or computer.

In addition to setting rules, I tried to mark as Junk, Report and everything, yet nothing is working. Fun part is, when you mark spam emails as junk and send them to the Deleted Items folder, and then you try to block and delete them again, they will re-appear in your Deleted Items. Yes, this is true, when you try to mark spam emails in the Deleted Items folder, which was working before, the emails you deleted will appear again.
So, what is the solution here?

Like others, just recently obvious spam emails have been coming in mass with MS unable to block anything.

Don't believe if you pay for their O365, it will make a difference. IT DOESN'T! same **** security and spam filter as free hotmail users.

All of them has a masked email which you do no longer see the actual FROM email but instead just the name, rendering "block/flag/report" useless!

For mine, if you check the message source header, i saw they are all using canadiantire.ca legitimate newsletter system to bypass any spam filters.

The emails that hotmail default system cannot block are coming from "eflyerfeedback"@"email.canadiantire.ca"

    You get the idea......

Spam that can't bypass the filter

As you can see the difference. I don't know why MS allows for such thing to happen! FIX IT!!!

I monitor a Hotmail email inbox of an elderly relative of mine. I am so disappointed in the spam filtering that Hotmail offers their users. These are blatant phishing and spam emails that repeatedly show up in her inbox. This issue simply does not exist in Gmail. I don't understand how Microsoft believes they can compete with Google when they do the basics so poorly.

Please have a look at my post in this thread https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/all/how-do-i-stop-thousands-of-spam-emails-from-going/144816b1-0923-4556-b42d-bfa1e8062384?page=2 (last one on the page).

It involves creating three simple rules that are clarified by screenshots.

Hello, I forgot to mention that the server was having issues, it is not exactly a spam issue but because the server is not at 100% there has been more spam coming in.

You can see the real-time status through this link:

    https://portal.office.com/servicestatus

It is mostly fixed now so it should go back to normal soon.

Did the spam rule work then?
