Spam filter in hotmail not working.

Everyday I am getting the same couple of pieces of spam email in my hotmail inbox, spam that usually goes to my spam/junk mail box. While most of the spam mail still goes to right box, these couple get through to my inbox. Several months ago all my spam went to my inbox for 4-5 days, maybe 3-350 spam mails a day in my inbox. At the time I noticed many others complaining of the same problem. Microsoft (or someone) was able to stop it last time. I hope someone can stop it this time before all my spam ends up in my inbox. I should add that I use an iPad, not a laptop or computer.

    Thanks mate,

Yes AI could be incredibly useful regarding privacy when it is not making pretend humans, Art and answering questions. I don't mind changing my email address but many contacts would or at least have issues with it. You have 1 solution for 95% privacy and that is to encrypt (military grade) a note pad file with the message on it and the receiver has the key, you can also use a macro program to do this automatically as I have done it myself for fun lol. This would be a breeze for AI and would actually make it very useful for a change and now that I am typing this I am going to look into it. I have also noticed that people don't care much for privacy until it affects them negatively!

See you in 5 years when I become a billionaire with my new AI encryption email service (I will know all the keys and pull a Suckerburg on my users ;) hence the bucket loads of money that I can not even spend in two life times!

    Cheers

Cheers Pete, Yup its all a bit BS. ESp folk like Suckerburg. Who know very well they allow real blatant dodgy adverts on FB and could very easily stop that but hey they still arrive. The bosses of these places seem to just shrug and put scant effort into sorting out proper security. I did think of laboriously getting legit emails from Hotmail to be forwarded to say https://proton.me/mail.  It may work but hey its not the best system. Maybe we can use AI to launch a counter attack? All the best. If I find a better solution I shall come back to you.

Same here. Probably 12 months ago we were swamped with junk emails that I have been reporting ever since. I reckon over 100 per day. I can't block most of them because they hide their email particulars. If you hover cursor over the email line legitimate emails will show an address. If this is what happens with scammers & unsolicited junk then why can't MS Outlook (Hotmail) send straight to Junk? They should be able to recognise dodgy anonymous addresses. All legitimate emails even from companies have their email particulars visible. This is really impeding our use of this Hotmail service which we have been using for many years. I pay for the extra storage but dont have the 365 option. I was told that athisupgrade which I wouldn't use would not make any difference. This is extremely frustrating.

    Hi Peter,

Thank you for the response, I am not seeing as to above is the best way, please advise.

    Thank you

    Kim

    Hello Mustafa,

"Blocking these emails is not really the best option as the spammers can change the email address and still be able to send emails"

The above is the most effective way on top of the "built in" system that's based on algorithms, using word patterns might have worked ten years ago and is currently none effective. The most infuriating part of Hotmail and also the main reason I do not use it for important email is because Microsoft gets to decide which email addresses I can block. Whoever decided that the latter was "effective" is actually promoting spam as these email addressees that I cannot block are advertisements and an 8th grader in primary / elementary school has the mental ability to understand why that is.

Block sender: Is rendered void as a solution because the end user does not get to choose who they can block, so this is only half advice.

Solution: Let the end user decide who to block.

Report Junk: Again this as I am sure most people know is not effective at all for the same reason that you gave above "Blocking these emails is not really the best option as the spammers can change the email address and still be able to send emails".

Solution: Block the email address as soon as it is reported.

I hope this clears the issue people are having with Hotmail.

    Have a nice day.

    Regards

    Peter

I’m getting many spam/junk/phishing emails all containing Imgur.com links; however, there is no option to block certain phrases contained in links. If only I could create a rule for messages containing links with “Imgur” this would eliminate 98% of my junk messages that continue to be delivered to my inbox.
