Outlook 2016 will not take gmail after end of May 2022

Google advises that gmail will not work in Outlook 2016 after 30 May 2022. how do i change from outlook 2016 to outlook 2019 within my current 365 subscription?

    Hello Diane,

    Likewise, I'm using an older version (Outlook 2010, Office Home & Business 2010). Is there any way to continue using the older version with gmail on my PC? I've refrained from migrating to 365, and want to keep using the standalone version I know and love if there is any way possible?

    Sure, for Outlook 2010, go to your Google account, turn on 2-Step Verification and then generate an App Password. Open Outlook 2010, bring up your Gmail account in Account Settings, and replace the existing password with the 16 digit App Password you just generated. You do not have to wait until the 30th, this will work right away and the 30th will pass without issue.

    With Outlook 2016, you need both, but it isn't as complicated as is looks. Go to your Google account, turn on 2-Step Verification and then generate an App Password. Open Outlook 2016, bring up your Gmail account in Account Settings, and replace the existing password with the 16 digit App Password you just generated. You do not have to wait until the 30th, this will work right away and the 30th will pass without issue.
