My problem isn't mentioned anywhere -- after I follow all the steps EXACTLY as stated, all I get in outlook is syncing of much older emails and NONE of the present emails. This syncing take about 1 min each time and adds to the file all the older emails. Worse, I had 2 gmail accts that were syncing to the same "in box" in Outlook but now longer do so. Answers?

You are a life saver!!! I have and love MS Office Outlook 2007 (desktop) and was in a panic when my email no longer loaded from GMail. I followed your advice, starting with the 2-step verification process, then generating an app password for less secure apps on my Gmail account settings. I then entered the app password into my Outlook email account settings. I whooped with joy when I saw all my mail loading. THANK YOU!!!!!
I have used emClient now that my older MS Outlook no longer works.
It's free version does exactly what I need and has a good migration tool included to migrate from the older (2007 etc) versions.
I have no affiliation with Google, Microsoft or emClient
