Outlook 2016 will not take gmail after end of May 2022

I did finally get my GMail to work in Outlook 2013, after trying for about 4 hours. The method you shared was fine except for the step 4 in Activation of 2 step verification which says "Follow the On Screen Steps".

Although my PC, Ipad, and Mobiles were listed on other security pages, on this particular activation screen it only mentioned an old Android phone I no longer used. I was expecting my PC to be listed, but of course I now realise it is only requiring a phone. It also mentions downloading the "Google App" for Iphones, which was another Red Herring. Eventually I just proceeded with the selection of my old Android device and the Authentication password popped up on my new Iphone. Having stepped through that process I could then see the setup of App Passwords in the Security section and got the 16 character code ok.

I can confirm that I did not need to do anything with my iPhone. I have an iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 15.5.

When I selected the App Password it did not "break" Mail on my iPhone.

My iPhone Mail still worked with my Google account password.

That's been my experience also. I have always used POP in the past but within the past couple months I added an additional Gmail account to Outlook (Subscription version 2205) and was not even given an option. It set up as IMAP.

POP stopped working for a day 6/2 and then worked ok again until 6/7. It remains broken today, 6/8. IMAP worked throughout.

I prefer POP but am concerned about trying to set up two factor authorization as I don't have a cell phone and it seems most two factor systems require one.

Additionally, it seems that this is something Microsoft/Google should address so that Outlook users don't have to go through the hassle. It's tiring having to fix things that worked because some organization decides to make a change. I thought technology was supposed to make things easier. Instead it seems an inordinate amount of time is just spent sweeping up this sort of mess.

Thanks! Exactly what I needed. There are a few missing items above but I was able to get it working.

Does this work if you are using windows 7? Outlook 2013. I have tried the steps and still get an error message.
