I have Office Home & Business 2016 and Outlook stopped grabbing my emails. I don't use 365, and this is for a desktop. When I logged on to Gmail via a browser and tried to activate 2-step authentication - that's apparently just for mobile devices. What do I do from a desktop version of Outlook?
Just follow the instructions I've posted here and you'll be back in business. THEY ARE FOR THE DESKTOP VERSION OF OUTLOOK AND THEY WORK WITH ALL VERSIONS OF OFFICE FROM 2003 TO 2019.
If you haven't tried following each step of the instructions as they are presented, I can't help you.
It also worked for me using Outlook 2021.
Outlook POP suddenly stopped working but IMAP worked fine.
All the hype about newer Office Outlook working out of the box is no longer right. IMAP sets itself up automatically but a POP connection ........ use the password generated from the above help in 'Signing into Google' and not your usual Gmail password.
