Outlook does not reconnect after waking from sleep mode

Hi,

When I leave my computer idle so it enters sleep mode outlook does not reconnect to server and cannot update the latest emails. Closing the program down and starting again means that outlook will not even open. The only way I can get outlook to open up again properly is to restart the PC.

Is there a better fix than this, as it is rather annoying than to have to restart all the time.

I can confirm I have the latest updates for windows 11 and Microsoft office programs.

Thanks

Thanks so much for involving yourself in this craziness. I appreciate it, and I appreciate you.

While I am a Dell user (XPS 15 9570), I don't run ExpresConnect. I hope those who do will find your tack useful and effective.

Again, thank you. I promise to share whatever I find out here.

I have the same issue on multiple machines. Outlook will hang after a period of time or sleep and always show as trying to connect. If you open the connection status, it will show :

    Status: Connecting

    Protocol: HTTP

    Authn: Error*

    Encrypt: SSL

If I close Outlook, it will not re-open unless I reboot the PC.

This will affect all Microsoft products, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive.

All other network dependent apps function properly. Web browsers, remote access seem to be fine.

I have the same issue. I have 5+ users for whom when the computer resumes from sleeping overnight, none of the MS apps will connect. The only solution is to restart...which defeats the purpose of sleep and quick resume. O365 with Outlook, Teams, word, excel, etc are all affected.

Any solutions? This seems to be a pretty widespread issue. When will MS step in and address this?

Mine got fixed for a while with the youtube tutorial I uploaded to this thread.

But there was an update or something, and now I'm back with this annoying issue every freaking day.

I've googled this problem and there have been people complaining about the same since 2018, so let's not hold our breath for a solution!

interestingly enough, I updated to Windows 11 for other reasons and in my case, the issue seems to have resolved. I still have at least 3 other users with the same issue and they are not upgrading for at least 6 months...

Working to open a case with MS
