Outlook does not reconnect after waking from sleep mode

Hi,

When I leave my computer idle so it enters sleep mode outlook does not reconnect to server and cannot update the latest emails. Closing the program down and starting again means that outlook will not even open. The only way I can get outlook to open up again properly is to restart the PC.

Is there a better fix than this, as it is rather annoying than to have to restart all the time.

I can confirm I have the latest updates for windows 11 and Microsoft office programs.

Thanks

Thanks so much for involving yourself in this craziness. I appreciate it, and I appreciate you.

While I am a Dell user (XPS 15 9570), I don't run ExpresConnect. I hope those who do will find your tack useful and effective.

Again, thank you. I promise to share whatever I find out here.

It seems that the fix in my case ended up being removing other versions.

    There were 4 versions installed:

    • Microsoft 365 en-us
    • Microsoft 365 es-es
    • Microsoft 365 fr-fr
    • Microsoft 365 for enterprise en-us

I removed all but the for enterprise version and ran a quick repair on enterprise and this seems to have worked.

At first we thought it was a sleep issue but it happened once when a user was still active. Hopefully this fix works for more of you. Fwiw our systems are deployed via intune autopilot so I'm not sure if someone screwed up on the deployment and pushed multiple versions

If you are running a Dell laptop with a docking station, then this thread might help:

Outlook and Teams have connection issues after coming out of sleep mode.

Problem seems to be related to a driver and only occurs when Ethernet and WLAN are active at the same time.

This is helpful for all who use Outlook webmail for their email clients.

Who is not helpful for are those who still use the original Office program, such as Office 2019 for Home and Business.

The answer to this lies with Microsoft, who continues to refuse to address it.

Thanks to @Tica82 for posting it. Microsoft, why not be a good actor here before everyone must use 365.

I wonder if everyone with this issue has a Dell?

This was found today and we are a Dell shop - we are going to disable the network part of Dell Optimizer on some of the affected machines now and see what happens...

    ExpressConnect/Outlook Issue

The Dell Optimizer update that was released at the end of April is causing issues with Outlook in our environment.  I'm just writing this to hopefully save others some grief if this occurs elsewhere.

After the upgrade, Outlook will either disconnect every few hours or get stuck at loading profile.  The only way to resolve it is to restart the PC.  This has happend on Precision 5760 & 7550 models as well as Latitude 7420.  Uninstalling ExpresConnect from the Add/remove programs applet resolved the issue for several in our environment.

Just hoping that if anyone else has this issue this will help. It took me about 7 hours to figure out what was causing it!
