Outlook does not reconnect after waking from sleep mode

Hi,

When I leave my computer idle so it enters sleep mode outlook does not reconnect to server and cannot update the latest emails. Closing the program down and starting again means that outlook will not even open. The only way I can get outlook to open up again properly is to restart the PC.

Is there a better fix than this, as it is rather annoying than to have to restart all the time.

I can confirm I have the latest updates for windows 11 and Microsoft office programs.

Thanks

Thanks so much for involving yourself in this craziness. I appreciate it, and I appreciate you.

While I am a Dell user (XPS 15 9570), I don't run ExpresConnect. I hope those who do will find your tack useful and effective.

Again, thank you. I promise to share whatever I find out here.

Thank you for sharing this solution Jim_11! It solved the issue for me (where non of the other tips in this thread had any effect).

Saving the above as small .bat file with

    @echo off
    ipconfig /release
    ipconfig /renew
    exit

will allow an easy execution and fix once running into this issue.

    Regards

    Kai

What I have found is that Dell released a new version of the Optimizer program and it includes the option to manage your network connections. It attempts to route traffic through both wired and WiFi connections, if available and that messes with the Microsoft licensing program causing the hang. We have been turning off the network portion of Optimizer and it has been working for us so far. The installed app that manages that is ExpressConnect in add/remove programs.

One other thing we have seen, with regards to issues upon wake, was the machine allowing the network card to sleep, in order to save power. You can turn off that feature in Network Properties.

Darren, I have exactly the same here.
It's sad there is no answer from Microsoft on it, it's impacting me every other day.

I have the exact same issue, just Outlook and Teams fail to connect after hibernating (despite other internet apps, browser etc working), i have tried everything and only a full reboot resolves it
