How do I get my Outlook mail working again if I cannot generate a new password. I accidently added a folder under the inbox and when I tried to delete I could not. I then lost connection to AOL and could not connect to pull my email. I went to generate a password but I keep getting this feature not available right now.
How can I get my Outlook to pull my email from AOL again?

Thank you
I've been using outlook for my primary email and my 2x AOL email addresses for many years. Every so often, I start getting the imap.aol.com error. I simply cancel the error and it is typically resolved in minutes (like the next time outlook reaches out for email). Sometimes though, I simply close out my email in order to give it a rest (meaning it doesn't try to get aol while the app is closed). Later, for example an hour, I open outlook and everything resumes as normal.
It is as if outlook tries to get email from aol too often so that aol will temporarily block my ip from getting imap email. Strangely though, the 1 aol account will be fine while the other generates the error. I have yet to find a sure fire reason why aol blocks (causes an error) especially on one of the accounts and not the other. It's been this way for years.
Side note: I have noticed that since aol turned of 3rd party passwords being generated and then back on, I have started receiving an extreamly large amount of spam. Not only a lot of it, but multiples of the same spam. It's as if AOL has simply turned off ALL spam blocking features in hopes users will buy there service and spam filtering. Happy to say (although I've had my aol email addresses since 1997) that I am finally phasing them out. Lots of memories using AOL, but it has got to go.
Lastly. My account was registered with the wrong Birthday (off by a single day), likely from scrolling box when originally setup. Every once in a while for the past 20 years, I have tried to get AOL to correct this without luck. So, it's amazing how much time and energy I have spent on a single thing without a resolution. I admit, I have not sent in my birth certificate for validation. Ha, for years (long ago) when calling in to AOL, I've just had to use the birthday they think I was born on rather than the date the rest of the world thinks.
Regardless of me having the correct generated passwords, lately I have been sporadic errors accessing mail on OUTLOOK on a PC and my iPhone.
This is scary! I have so many accounts and other things that rely on my email since 1995.
imap.aol.com not responding!
Anyone else having these issues?
Happening right now!
I called AOL and they said to keep trying, I can still use my iphone and the aol site to see the mail. The rep said to keep trying, great technology!!!
Thanks a lot for you detailed answer.
Almost same situtation for me since I have a new PC and normally used Outlook on my old one and mobile.
So I guess I will log in every day with my new PC now and hope at some point I can generate a 3rd party password. :(
Edit:
Since I still have the old laptop it worked for me with the "mailpv.exe".
Thank you guys :)
