Microsoft Outlook Storage Message - reducing from 15GB to 5GB

Hi, starting today a pink bar at the top of my outlook page stating 'From February 1st, you'll need more storage to send or receive emails.' then provides 2 links to 'Manage Storage' & 'Get More Storage'. There is a second window bottom left hand side stating in red font 'Microsoft Storage' '14.6GB used of 5GB (292%)' 'Get More Storage'. What is going on? I've had this account for 10 + years.

    Got the same message and came here to see this thread...

    Microsoft is really messing with us. I have been using this hotmail/outlook account for over 20 years and they are just telling us to paid up or butt off.

    Well I don't think that the solution is as described. If you google the Outlook free storage, it has always been 15GB. I am getting the warning at 6.7GB, saying something like I am 134% over capacity (5GB).

    Why cut the free capacity to 1/3 of what it has been?

    I have had my email account for about 22 years, and get 200 SPAMS per day.

    If Microsoft thinks I'm paying them . . . nope . . . I will go to a competitor.

    This is ridiculous when you can get free email everywhere!

    Its 50 GB for Google Gmail.

    I will say goodbye to Microsoft and all the SPAM that is just too much!

    I dont want one drive, just my email account with my 15GB, as in the last 15 years. If i need to pay, of course will be with another company, you just prove that you are not a trustly people.

    I am getting the very same message with the exact number as mentioned in your account , "6.7GB, I am 134% over capacity (5GB)". yet when I select manage account, I see that I am only using 131mb out of 5GB...an under this, there is a message saying that I have 15GB of email storage...this is a generic message they are sending to everyone, regardless if you are over the limit or not, it is very deceiving to say the least
