Microsoft Outlook Storage Message - reducing from 15GB to 5GB

Hi, starting today a pink bar at the top of my outlook page stating 'From February 1st, you'll need more storage to send or receive emails.' then provides 2 links to 'Manage Storage' & 'Get More Storage'. There is a second window bottom left hand side stating in red font 'Microsoft Storage' '14.6GB used of 5GB (292%)' 'Get More Storage'. What is going on? I've had this account for 10 + years.

    Hi,

This is an unnecessary nuance. I was unable to receive emails because of this new policy, thankfully the other parties informed me that emails sent to me were bounced back and brought this issue to my attention. I have a hotmail account for a very long time and now I'm seriously thinking about switching to something else. A 5gb or even 15gb nowadays is a little. Microsoft should at least give basic email accounts a storage of 50gb or more. I hope this message makes it to the decision-makers.

Wrong way of looking at things. MS is not providing this service for free, they're making money around it. Competitors are providing better services for free. MS by far is making more profits through their other products than most of competitors so squeezing people this way to push them towards paying for an email account is a cheap trick that will backfire on them. I personally seriously thinking about leaving my hotmail account that I held for over 20 years and go elsewhere.

In 2023, MS should increase their basic email storage to 50-100gb minimum; not reducing it and harassing people like that.

You have 15GB of free email storage - unless you use more then 5GB of it.

    This is a scam.
