Microsoft Outlook Storage Message - reducing from 15GB to 5GB

Hi, starting today a pink bar at the top of my outlook page stating 'From February 1st, you'll need more storage to send or receive emails.' then provides 2 links to 'Manage Storage' & 'Get More Storage'. There is a second window bottom left hand side stating in red font 'Microsoft Storage' '14.6GB used of 5GB (292%)' 'Get More Storage'. What is going on? I've had this account for 10 + years.

Same here -- if they are going to count email attachments toward OneDrive storage, PLEASE allow us to download the attachments and delete them off the original email, saving the rest of the email. I have many emails with attachments that I don't want to delete but can just delete the attachments. This became an overnight nightmare with my OneDrive storage suddenly exceeding the limit by nearly double the allowed amount. It's suddenly forced me to spend many hours over many days weeding through 10 years of thousands of emails with attachments to determine which can be downloaded and deleted & which I need to keep. So far only managed to get rid of 0.5 GB of attachments of the 4 GB that needs to be deleted, with no end in sight for the time this will take. NO WARNING by Microsoft is unconscionable. :(

As another writer said, Microsoft is messing with us. For one thing, whole folders have been emptied from my Hotmail account, with no warning or explanation from Microsoft. That is untrustworthy and unprofessional -- actually kind of indecent. Their messaging says I have 5 GB and 15 GB storage at the same time. What?? Further, it is irritating and unhelpful that the format of the Hotmail / Outlook page is changed regularly, without explanation. That has been very confusing for senior e-mail users.

So, may I use 15 free GB of e-mail storage or not? Is OneDrive on "The Cloud", and the e-mails aren't? I didn't ask for OneDrive to limit my e-mail use...

    Yvonne

Solution to the Pink Bar. So yes they changed terms February 1st.

Create a backup folder on your hard drive and move files into that folder. I moved everything that is older than 2021 and keeping only 2022 and forward. I will move every year onto my desktop at end of year.

I have been a customer for over 20 years. Don't want to lose my email.
