Microsoft Outlook Storage Message - reducing from 15GB to 5GB

Hi, starting today a pink bar at the top of my outlook page stating 'From February 1st, you'll need more storage to send or receive emails.' then provides 2 links to 'Manage Storage' & 'Get More Storage'. There is a second window bottom left hand side stating in red font 'Microsoft Storage' '14.6GB used of 5GB (292%)' 'Get More Storage'. What is going on? I've had this account for 10 + years.

    ..

I clicked somewhere to get out of the thread the other day, but I still receive notifications. And guess what! those fill my storage space as well LOL.

How can I make this thread stop coming to my email?

    Thank you

I've been using the same ID for >25 years and I remember the 2MB (yes that's correct and not a typo: 2 megabytes) limit for the total hotmail-mailbox. So yes, they HAVE come a long way.

But since what MS is telling us does not make any sense at all, is extremely conflicting and it has a large impact on people, I find most replies still very civilised.

And you know what they say: if a product is 'free', it is not the product: you are. And I am fine with that, but imho you shouldn't defend it as being 'free'.

    Hi guys,

as we say in Greece “To the deaf's door thunder as much as you want”

Nobody from the company reads these complains, and as much as I hate Gmail, I guess will have to start using it more.

I concur - guess they don't care about losing users who are free. It just means we'll go to another provider who doesn't chop up storage.

NO - this is no longer true on many of our accounts. Attachments count toward the 5GB - which fills it up. And emails are 15GB (without attachments.)
