Hi, starting today a pink bar at the top of my outlook page stating 'From February 1st, you'll need more storage to send or receive emails.' then provides 2 links to 'Manage Storage' & 'Get More Storage'. There is a second window bottom left hand side stating in red font 'Microsoft Storage' '14.6GB used of 5GB (292%)' 'Get More Storage'. What is going on? I've had this account for 10 + years.

I've written to my MP about this because it is damaging businesses. People can still sign up for things using a hotmail email address but then you cannot contact them. I have now coded into my forms to block any hotmail email to encourage people to use another email system, like gmail or yahoo. Thnaks,

You have 15GB of free email storage - unless you use more then 5GB of it.
This is a scam.
Wrong way of looking at things. MS is not providing this service for free, they're making money around it. Competitors are providing better services for free. MS by far is making more profits through their other products than most of competitors so squeezing people this way to push them towards paying for an email account is a cheap trick that will backfire on them. I personally seriously thinking about leaving my hotmail account that I held for over 20 years and go elsewhere.
In 2023, MS should increase their basic email storage to 50-100gb minimum; not reducing it and harassing people like that.
